Filipino Street food is famous for its unique taste and twist. Street foods here in the Philippines usually comes from a Push Cart (Kariton in tagalog). Street Vendors push their Cart's along the street's of the Philippines.

So, what are you waiting for? Let me tour you to a wonderful world of Filipino Street Food Delicacies.

The famous "BALLS":

The First in the picture from left is Fishball, followed by Chicken Ball and last the SquidBall

The Fishball obviously is made from Fish MEAT . Chicken Ball from Chicken MEAT and of course Squid Ball from Squid MEAT. Fishball cost around 50cent php. while Chicken Ball and Squid Ball usually around 2.50cents. They are famous here in the Philippines not only for their taste but also on theie reasonable cheap price. The sauce for this BALLS is usually "SWEET", "SPICY", or "VINEGAR" but you can combine those sauce to have much more tongue twisting savory taste.

KIKIAM:

Kikiam is usually made up of Fish meat. It is different on fishball and other Balls because of its unique taste. There are two sizes of kikiam, the small one is originally named orlian but as time goes by, the people already practiced calling it small kikiam rather than orlian. Kikiam is usually with the other balls in the push carts so their sauce is also the same with the other BALLS

Kwek Kwek (a.k.a TOKNENENG):

Ooops... This is not an Orange fruit. The small Kwek Kwek is made up of Quail eggs, while the BIG sized KwekKwek is made up of Hard Boiled eggs. So, you are also wondering why it is color orange? It is simply a food coloring together with the flour that have been mixed together to produce a color Orange batter that the eggs will be dipped before frying.

Calamares (Squid Ring):

I think you already know what this food made from. As I mentioned above it is a Squid ring, the squid is cut into ring shape and dip in the flour before frying it. It cost around 3.00php into the streets.

Balot:

A Balot is a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled alive and eaten in the shell. They are considered delicacies of Asia and especially the Philippines, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein, hearty snack, balot are mostly sold by street vendors at night in the regions where they are available. They are often served with beer. The Filipino and Malay word balut (balot) roughly translates to mean wrapped.

Balut are most often eaten with a pinch of salt, though some balut-eaters prefer chili and vinegar to complement their egg. The eggs are savored for their balance of textures and flavors; the broth surrounding the embryo is sipped from the egg before the shell is peeled and the yolk and young chick inside can be eaten. All of the contents of the egg are consumed. In the Philippines, balut have recently entered higher cuisine by being served as appetizers in restaurants: cooked adobo style, fried in omelettes or even used as filling in baked pastries.

You can usually buy this when it is already night time. It is really hard to find this food in the morning.

Isaw (Chicken Intestine):

Yay! This is one of my most favorite street food. It is a Chicken Intestine it is not a brain or what. Before you judge this food let me tell you a thing. Once you try this food, you cant stop eating this. I know this sounds awkward but it is really delicious. It is not fried like the other food above, instead the way of cooking this food is by grilling.

Chicken Feet (a.k.a Adidas):

I think you already know this food. In the Philippines it is usually called Adidas because of its shape. Shape? yah the shape... Try looking the logo of Adidas Shoes and this, you can have the answer. For me, I dont really like this food because it has so many bones. But other Filipinos love eating this food.

So, what are you waiting for? You can try this food anytime and anywhere in the Philippines. But, I really really warn you not to eat too much of this. Street Food are not really clean than Home made foods. But if you are looking for some exotic and delicious why dont you go out and try these.

Thanks for reading. Happy Eating
